Darlings: Roshan Mathew Opens Up On Working With Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, And Vijay Varma, 'They Are Incredible Actors, I was Slightly Overwhelmed' - EXCLUSIVE

Roshan Mathew is known for his films like Geetu Mohandas' 2019 drama "Moothon", Netflix's "Kappela" (2020) and Anurag Kashyap's "Choked". He also had a very powerful role in Malayalam crime-thriller "Kuruthi". And to feature alongside a powerful cast, led by superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran was a pretty big deal for the actor. According to Roshan, he particularly looks out for such characters that don't restrict him from playing heavy-duty characters.

In an exclusive chat with SpotboyE, Roshan Mathew revealed how excited he is to work with some top Bollywood listers like Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma, and Shefali Shah in his upcoming projects. The actor also spilled the beans on what qualities he looks upon when it comes to choosing co-stars and directors.

When asked if he has finished the shooting of his upcoming film Darlings and his experience of working on the projects Roshan answered, "I just wrapped my portion of the film like literally two days ago, and it's still slightly fresh in my head. I am still slightly overwhelmed. It was a lot of fun especially working with these people and watching them work, playing scenes out with them, all of that was a great experience. And I expected it to be like that, they are incredible actors. I have seen all three of them enough to know that there is a lot that takes up. But more importantly, for me, it was such a different experience from everything that I have done before in terms of the pure scale that the project was operating. The kind of planning that goes into it and how it's planned and executed. So, all of that was a new experience, and that was sort of what I wanted. I guess with time when I will think about it, I will have some learning that I can use, sort of taking away, but for now, it’s a very fresh process."

While it is needless to say every actor from any industry always has list actors and directors that they would love to work probe Roshan if he does too, he replies, “In Bollywood, not so much. I have not spent much time thinking about it. It all happened out of the blue for me, the first film that I did in Hindi which Anurag sir called me for happened because he saw the edit of Murthan and he liked it, and he almost immediately called me up. So, there was never really a plan." He continues, "I know I want to work wherever I can, whichever language I am comfortable with, whichever character I think I will convincingly play. But the list of people I want to collaborate with has sort of always been restricted to Malayalam. That may be beginning to change now when I watch a really good movie from Bollywood. You sort of think, that the people that worked on it as a little bit more accessible, I would have maybe in the last 3-4 years. Maybe that will change, but so far there are only people in Malayalam that I have a dream list of."

On the professional front, apart from Darlings, the actor will be seen in Kothu directed by Sibi Malya, Chathuram directed by Siddharth Bharathan.
